On Saturday the 5th of March at 12pm, NBTA will be counter leafleting CRT’s re-opening of the Hertford union canal in Victoria Park, next to Gunmaker’s gate (E3 5PE).
CRT market themselves as a charity that promotes wellbeing. We will be leafleting to show the public how damaging and nasty their policies are, and how they take actions which attack boaters’ wellbeing and way of life.
We will be leafleting and chatting to members of the public, as well as holding our own picnic and planning meeting for the campaign against the so called safety zones.
Come along with some food and something to sit on, and let’s spread the word about CRT’s lies.

As a live-aboard narrowboater I know without a shadow of a doubt that -my- “wellbeing” is the very last thing on C&RT Corporate’s mind. Quite the opposite in fact. C&RT’s rêve humide is of a series of disconnected lengths of canal sufficient unto the needs of (only) hire-boats from the big companies and private short-trippers to and fro marinas, gentrified and pay-per-use, the upkeep of each canal “sponsored” by those other corporations. The rest of the canal system is cycle-track, towpath for runners and walkers and dog-emptiers, and linear ponds for anglers. JMHO from current indications. I have other opinions if this one is wrong. I am often wrong. 😉
